Why Isn’t Trackmania Coming To Other Platforms?

For those who don’t know Trackmania is a stunt racing game that has you driving on structurally impossible tracks to achieve set time goals. If you get bored with the hundred or so pre-built tracks you can then challenge other people online or you can make your own tracks using the built in editor, or if you really want you could challenge other people online on your own tracks. Basically Trackmania is insane fun considering that it’s free. If you haven’t tried it yet, you have no real reason to say no as its legitimately and legally free.

My only problem with Trackmania is that its essentially the same game. Well, Lets not cut it that short, TMNF adds a lot of great features to the existing formula but the basis is still the game. I’m not to complaining about a free game, that would be stupid, because as far as free games go this is at the top of the pile. What Trackmania really needs is to get off the PC.

There is a DS version on the way but that doesn’t seem like a full use of the Trackmania franchise. On the other side of the fence there are Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade games to be produced. Why Trackmania hasn’t made this jump yet I’ll never know. If Gripshift ever taught us anything its that these kind of games have a perfect home waiting for them on these platforms.

If Microsoft would loosen up and allow some kind of ‘YouTube of levels’ to happen, Trackmania would be a massive hit. Obviously leaving PSN as the perfect platform for TM to showcase its chaotic level building prowess. I’d easily pay money for the free game on the Xbox 360, wait that sounds dumb, but I’d do it anyway. So this is an open letter to Nadeo, this game is just waiting to be made.
