Pacific Rift Preview

Last year Sony released Motorstorm, an off-road racer that did exactly what it was designed to do, show off the power of the console. A year later and Sony have reveled plans for second Motorstorm dubbed Pacific Rift.

Pacific Rift won’t just be an improved engine, although it has that going for it as well. The biggest change is its environment, FarCry Pacific Rift will move to a tropical island environment that is full of destructive vegetation. Race over and through mud filled banks, madly reflective water, blinding volcanic smoke clouds and even pools of burning lava.

Expect your standard array of MotorStorm-esque vehicles with the addition of Monster Trucks. You’ll then be able to take those vehicles online with 15 other players or you can take full advantage of local 4 player split screen.

The original MotorStorm set a great foundation but it lacked modes. If Pacific Rift can give you enough things to do, we will finally be playing the game we wanted the first time around but with more Pendulum.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is set to come out on the Playstation 3 by the end of 2008, although this is not set in stone.
