Konami Blocks Some UK Users From the MGS Beta

You know how the Metal Gear Solid Beta hasn’t exactly gone smoothly? The multiple delays combined with the horrible duplicate account process has put a bad taste in every ones mouth. That’s not even mentioning the short code problems that people have been experiencing.
The latest reports are that anybody who’s Internet Service Provider is AOL UK have been blocked from the beta. The cause or reason is unknown but members of the Official Sony Forums have voiced complaints about the beta not working and eventually coming to the conclusion that the only thing is common was their ISP. It appears that a few other guys have had problems with it.
Any AOL UK users that have attempted to get their stealth on, have been greeted with the following message..
‘(090B:00000001) - Servers are Idle, but not available to you’
There have also been a few more reports that Virgin Media subscribers have also been barred.
It’s still not known if its a problem at AOL’s end, the users end or at Konami, but at the end of the day this isn’t doing much for Konami’s greatly criticized online play.

[UPDATE] It appears that is problem isn’t strictly limited to the UK as some American and Puerto Rican gamers also get the same message.

We at Puerto Rico cant play MGO (the US version) even though we use american PS3s and american servers and american PS store, yet we can use the UK version of MGO
If true that MGO beta is region locked, it means the placed us with Europe even though we are US property, wtf?
EDI: just found out a Puerto Rican was playing, it seems they too have blocked two of our major ISP, thanks Konami!

Yup, I am using AOL UK, and i have not been successful at logging into the game servers. I get the code, but not the following message.
Guess i dont get to play this beta, i hope they sort this problem out before the game is released!

This isn’t limited to UK users.
I am a US user, and haven’t been able to get online either (with the same 090B:00000001 error). My friend, also a US user is unable to connect either.
I don’t care what legal rationale they had behind this, but locking IPs out of server is something that only the Japanese can fuck up. Japanese devs =! Online gamers. Not surprising, but pathetic nonetheless.

Yet another foul up in Konami’s MGO fiasco. I’m also an AOL UK subscriber and have received the same error code. Was really looking forward to giving the game some serious time this weekend. Guess the gardening will get done after all. B******S!

I use Virgin and although I had the same initial problems as everyone else ( konami i.d etc…) I am now playing the Beta without any fuss. Must be just AOL !! Strange !! Very good game by the way !!!!!

US citizen living in France.
pre-ordered MGS4, got the MGO beta code on MGsaga2 promo DVD, grabbed the client from USA PSN Store.
My PS3 is American, MGO beta is American, PSN account is American, Konami ID is American, and yet I can’t fxxking play because my IP is currently in France. This is absolutely aweful.
I sure hope those region restrictions will be lifted for the retail version otherwise I am screwed, badly.
Konami, it’s still time to rectify the situation, thanks!
