Guitar Hero Aerosmith Preview

Guitar Hero Aerosmith is an odd one. On one hand it will appeal to both Guitar Hero rockers and Aerosmith fans but I can’t really imagine the overlap is that strong, luckily there are numerous extra non-Aerosmith tracks included to keep everyone happy.

Guitar Hero’s main career mode will roughly follow the career of Aerosmith from the beginning up to the Super Bowl performance. Be warned if you are buying this for the ‘issues’ that the band has had, you’ll be disappointed. Naturally they are going to forget about that and stay ‘positive’.

Just like the real characters included in Guitar Hero 3, the entire band have been motion captured for that extra authentic feel. For bonus points the game will also feature all original recordings, well the Aerosmith tracks at least and any older tracks have been re-recored for the game.

As previously mentioned other bands will be included ranging from Cheap Trick to The Kinks, from The Clash to Deep Purple and from Run D.M.C. to The White Stripes. The rough ratio is 60% Aerosmith to 40% inspired by.

Unfortunately Guitar Hero Aerosmith will not just be Guitar Hero 3 with a new tracklist. This version won’t have co-op career and the engine has been slightly modified. That down side comes back good as they are re-evaluating the difficulty after the insane step up that was, Guitar Hero 3.

The track listing has been reported to be exclusive to this release. Don’t expect them as DLC in Guitar Hero 3 or 4. The only way to get them either with a special Aerosmith guitar or standalone for use with your existing Guitar Controller.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith is coming out June 29th 2008 on the Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Wii & Xbox 360.
