I hope anyone didn’t blink and miss was what a busy January as it’s now the month that nobody can pronounce because of that awkward r and surprisingly games are afoot. I initially thought that every game running scared of Modern Warfare 2 was a bad thing, it showed a lack of confidence in their own game and left 2009’s Christmas very one dimensional. Luckily 2009 was full of other non-Modern Warfare games to get us by, oh and Modern Warfare 2 lived up to the hype.

This smart strategy of moving your game away from the big release to a month full of releases is now, somehow paying off. Last month games like Bayonetta, VVVVVV and Mass Effect 2 got the recognition they deserved because of this Indian summer.

We’re entering the second period of this extended Christmas period and we’ll be covering the important releases like Bioshock 2, MAG, Heavy Rain and more. We’ll also telling tales of video game addiction in our mini-column, The Priory. The first of which went up last Friday and features freelancer, Martin Gaston, telling us of Counterstrike addiction. We’ve got one podcast ready to go along with another planned for later in the month.

Looks like another blink-and-you’ll-miss-it month.

Take care,
Sam Morris – Editor In Chief
