The Lost & Damned broke down many barriers. Not only does it make the concept of an up and coming GTA V laughable and unneeded but it created an intrigue for other residents of Liberty City. A handful of days before E3 this year we heard, with some initial scepticism, that the next chapter to detail a local resident would be titled The Ballard of Gay Tony. Rockstar are usually tight lipped when it comes to their games but it appears a few things have already slipped through the net.

You’ll play as Luis Lopez, a bodyguard for club owner Gay Tony and proud member of the Northwood Dominican Drug Dealers. His name might not instantly jump out at you but you have encountered him before. One of the stand-out missions in the original ‘Niko Bellic chronicles’ that entails Niko and the McReary Brothers robbing the Bank of Liberty actually featured Luis himself. While as a hostage he talked to the hero of the robbery, Eugene Reaper, until Eugene was quickly shot. Luis then fled before the authorities arrived on the scene. The reason for Luis’ apparent yellow-belliedness is still unknown.

The second is a rather more important meeting. During the debacle that was the diamond deal between Niko, Lost & Damned protagonist Johnny Klebitz and the Jewish Mob, his face showed up. This time he opposed the deal that was taking place as one of the ambushers of the meeting. It’s, again, unknown as for what happened to Luis after Niko and Johnny escape but it’s safe to say we’ll find out.

It’s probably also safe to say that Luis’ path will cross with either Niko’s or Johnny’s. Luis not only messed up their diamond deal but Johnny kills a man called Evan Moss who was dating Anthony Prince otherwise known as Gay Tony. It will be interesting to see if they ‘kill off’ any of these former protagonist characters during the plight of Luis Lopez. Either way Johnny’s involvement has basically been confirmed as Rockstar have already commented that The Ballard of Gay Tony will combine high-end club life with the biker gangs previously featured in Lost & The Damned.

Elsewhere expect new guns, vehicles, lo-cal modifications and new music for radio stations. That would be with the most incremental improvement coming to ElectroChoc, Liberty City’s electro and dance radio station.

It’s now Luis Lopez’s time to step up to the plate in what will surely be another critically acclaimed expansion to Grand Theft Auto 4. But with this completing the Impossible Trinity achievement along with it being the last expansion that Microsoft have paid for, will this be the last expansion before the next core game?
