Slap a heavy rumour control on this one but the word on the MMA street is that any of the UFC’s fighters that sign on to do EA’s own MMA title will be banned from competing in real-life UFC events.
With only a handful of well-known fighters opting to punch, kick and mount other dudes in other places than the UFC, it will be interesting to see how EA’s game fares. Official licenses might not be everything with most sports but combat sports are an entirely different kettle of fish.
It’s some real craziness but you can see the UFC’s side of things. UFC 2009 Undisputed sold incredibly well and they’ll want to use their budding franchise to tempt more fans into the sport. Like that will ever work, pft. All right I just finished watching UFC99 but that’s not the point.
