It might be another World War 2 First Person Shooter but Battlefield 1943 definitely has it’s appeal. Not only is it a dirt cheap multiplayer Battlefield affair but it’s also only available through downloadable platforms only. No retail versions at all for this Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Network only title.

I have to admit this one has been off my radar as it’s one of many Battlefield titles coming out soon and Bad Company 2 and Heroes have been top of that list. Nevertheless in the most recent issue of Edge, Battlefield 1943 got a favourable review backed up by a not-to-be-taken-lightly nine out of ten review score.

Battlefield 1943 will be available for Xbox 360 through the Marketplace on the 8th July 2009 and for the Playstation 3 on the PSN a day later on the 9th July 2009. These will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points and $15 respectively. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a UK price for the game. Any ideas? Probably something around £12.99.
