If there’s one thing worse than being dirt poor wearing trashy low level monster loot and bad at your class, its being rich and fully equipped in expensive gear., Why? You may ask, well simply because people are people.
Everywhere I go lately I seem to run into people who want something from me. They are either looking for handouts of money, spells, gear, wanting me to make them things for free with my crafting or they expect me to protect them while they get the entire cave of monsters to chase them.
Now don’t get me wrong I love helping out players and especially new ones. I give more things away than I sell in terms of value but what’s really getting to me lately is the way they are asking. It’s not a general nice plea in the public chat-channel, it’s more of a rude give me this and that.
For instance while in group earlier, I was asked to help a player kill a monster they were having trouble with. I took 15 minutes to travel to the area and go with them to the location. When we got there I remembered killing that monster before and mentioned that this will be easy. For some reason they took offense to that and I was told to shut up and kill the monsters, because I had travelled all the way there. I said sure and blew it up. Afterwards they left the group, not even a thank-you, but then decided that now would be a great time to message me demanding a cloak.
And that’s not the only time! In the last 24 hours from the writing of this post, I have had 4 other players come at me demanding things. One of which wanted me to buy them a horse while another wanted me to buy them armour. Later a third person demanded I make them what they wanted and when I said sure they also requested I buy the materials needed because they were poor. Finally someone else who, for who knows why requested I protect them while they pulled the entire cave of monsters and when I told them that it would be impossible, they got so angry that they began to type slanderous messages into the world chat channel.
What is it about a certain number of players which makes them think that just because a player is doing well, that means the player must give what they have away to others. Surely if I wanted to give something or help I would offer?
So perhaps this is more of a rant than an opinion or thought but also it’s a reminder that the other players you see in the games are human too. They have feelings, most have worked hard and it’s great to compliment but please don’t beg or demand!

In World of Warcraft there are many ways to get gold. However usually when I DO help others out I always say “If you need more, please sell something at the auction house or to the vendors”. While that may seem mean, people do work hard for their gold and can’t be expected to just give it out to anyone that is poor in a game.
If everyone gave gold… it would ruin the economy within the game and lower the value of the hard work that many many people do in order to earn what they have. But that’s just my experiences playing for about two years now there, and it may be different for other people but… I’m just a kind soul that has to be aware and not be used.
