For the folks across the pond the wait for Rock Band’s release has been a long one. It took just over seven months for EA to put everything together for its European launch. Not one week went past without a reminder of some new downloadable tracks being served up that would often follow with a “I can’t wait to play that”. I guess the extra few songs we got for free kind of helped but was the unjustified seven month waiting period worth it?
Personally, I’d have to say yes it was. Fine the extra tracks don’t exactly make up for it, after all who wants to sing in German? But overall spending the weekend with friends busting on some Rock Band has been fun and maybe the fact that we’ve been listening to news about Rock Band for seven months only makes it that much sweeter that its here.
Hold on a second, am I trying to justify us getting a game later? I suppose I am. We did get a massive selection of DLC to pick from although it would have been nice if they included a few of them with the game to further try and make up the wait. Also we have the new and improved Rock Store from day one instead of having to dashboard it up for awhile.
In my opinion it was worth the wait but I’m still deciding if it was worth the money. The RRP for the game and the complete instrument set is £180 and although a lot of outlets have been offering it at a reduced £140, thats still a lot of cash to drop on a single purchase. That price would be fine but some of the DLC looks so good that I can’t hold back on buying a few more tracks to bolster my set list. £140 is fine acceptable but when you add twenty odd pounds worth of extra content your looking at an even serious…er investment.
The bottom line is that playing the Drums is awesome and playing any instrument as part of a full band makes you forget all this stuff. I’ve just noticed people with huge smiles while playing it and that’s worth the wait alone.
Thats just me though, what do you guys reckon? Was it worth the wait? Was it worth the money?
