Gears of War 2 has a lot of promise already but really everyone wants more of the same with a more involved story. Luckily that’s what Gears of War 2 does but now with more chainsaw animations.

Today we were treated to the first in-game footage of Gears of War 2 that featured some small little tidbits of information. You’ll finally be able to fight the Brumaks that where featured observed in the first game.

Now using the Chainsaw Rifle will be just as exciting it was the first time around with all new animations that range from the simply brutal ‘in the back’ slaughterhouses to having epic chainsaw duels in the middle of the battlefield. Once in a duel you then have to mash the B button as fast as possible to make sure you win. This makes sense as before enemies would just have to take a chainsaw to the face and have no say in it, now at least it will look like they are putting up a fight.

We also saw up to 40 or 50 locust on screen at one point not only is this a terrific technical achievement but it should make for some awesome combat later on in the game. Talking of technical achievements, we also saw a glimpse of some real time vegetation get destroyed.

You can now pick up downed enemies and use them as human shields and then choose to ‘off them’ at will. There are rumors that this replaces the ‘Curb Stomp’ seen in the previous game as it uses the same button at the same time.

Gears of War 2 is set to come out November 2008 on the Xbox 360.

Obviously, I can’t wait for this monster-piece! Should be great, I’d love to hear some news on a PC version though. Dare say this will come 1 year later, though it would be really good if they released side by side, ala Shadowrun and support cross-platform. As no doubt the PC version, as with Gears 1, will look significantly better.

This would also solve the issue that the current Gears 1 PC version has currently, and that is the lack of online players. Though the extra achievements make up for that in some way.
