We all know about the ridiculous prices that consoles can get on eBay shortly after release and I’m sure we all know about the World of Warcraft gold farming problem on eBay but sometimes, for whatever reason, someone wants to sell a real gem.

Anyone who follows popular blogs such as Kotaku and the like will have known about the recent sealed copy of Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo which finally sold for a total of $1,217. I still can’t believe how high this got but there is a lot more stuff like that has been on eBay over the years.

We’ve seen the odd massive collections of games in one job lot. One load of Playstation games, over 1,500 started at $30,000 obviously nobody would buy it for that price as it worked out to be roughly $20 per game. Normally thats fine but remember these are just old games so the guy was a bit hopeful on that one.

But this isn’t to say that big job lots of games don’t sell. With over 1700 games and consoles worth approximately $14,000 sold for a slightly smaller $9,000. It was a lot of swag though and maybe a bargain for the final winner. You can actually check out the page on eBay as it was quite recent. What would you do with all that, you wouldn’t have time to play them all.

ebay3.jpg The final noteworthy collection aren’t actually games but joysticks, 161 of them to be precise. Sounds great but they are all Atari, Commodore & Amiga. The bidding started at $999.

So we know that collections can go for a hefty price as long as you’ve got a big collection and you price it right you’ve got a big sale on your hand. You’ve also got an epic job packaging it all up.

ebay4.jpgIf you’ve got anything that has a name on it your good to go as well. A Nintendo DS that was signed by Iwata, Miyamoto & Charles Martinet went for over $200 last year while Gary Coleman’s Gamecube sold for $510. I’m gonna be honest who would want a Gary Coleman signed Gamecube? Actually….

Most gaming swag you find on eBay is whatever is popular at the time but when a game called Prasium appears on eBay you start to wounder. Especially when you find out that they aren’t selling a copy they are selling the IP to a near complete game. It never sold in the end but you can check out a gameplay video and if you think you seen it before It’s because its Meteos.

ebay5.jpgIf you want to know how crazy these things can get somebody sold a replica Needler from Halo on eBay although it wasn’t the gun it was just the ‘crystals’ or ammo. It got one bid at $60.

ebay6.jpgFinally the most bizarre of all an electric guitar made out of a Sega Genesis. Although all they have done is replaced the body of a guitar with a genesis the guitar does work. I wouldn’t expect the genesis to work though.

This is just a brief look at what crazy gaming related things people will sell and buy on eBay. Have you seen anything that is more oddball than these items? Let us know either in the comments below or in our forums.

Now I’m off to play on my Gary Coleman signed Gamecube.
