With this type of game there are a few things you have come to expect, flashy graphics, long winded combos and loads of enemies to perform them on. The latter of which this game gives in abundance, sometimes slightly too more than the 360 can handle causing slow down and major frustration. Admittedly the first time you see a hoard of goblins run over the top of the hill it’s quite impressive, but soon becomes over shadowed by the button mashing antics of the combos. Like all games of this type there is a super charged attack which you get by collecting orbs from fallen enemies, Impressive though these may be they charge up another more impressive attack (which can KO 100’s of enemies at a time). Orbs are also used to buy unlockables, all of which is very nice looking artwork, being easily achieved.

At the end of each level you get a boss and to be honest these are the only parts in the game you’ll feel challenged. If for any reason you die on a particular level the next time you play it the difficulty will be knocked down a notch, so getting through the game is more persistence than skill. Although there are 30 missions split between 7 characters, the overall story seems too shallow and can be easily forgotten amongst the chaos of the battles.
A good attempt at something fresh and a novel idea, but really doesn’t cut the mustard with the likes of Dynasty Warriors. Promising concept and really can (at times) show off the power of the 360, a must for any Dynasty Warriors fanatic.
