Makers of Quake, ID Software are to team up with in-game advertising company IGA to create a free game on the PC called Quake Live. Considering it is coming with the Quake name you know it won’t be your normal cheaply made free game. Quake Live is to include all kinds of crazy stats and matchmaking features. The screens we have so far look a lot like Quake 3 and a free version of that game would never be unwanted.

Personally I’d love it if they released a ton of the Quake 3 Arena maps along with some new ones, stick in a few new weapons and modes and I don’t care how much advertising you have. Battlefield and now Quake, free gaming on the PC is starting to turn into a trend and one that I’d like to see more of. More on this story as we hear it.
